Classic Radiohead
Working in the children’s retail and commercial world, there is no shortage of girl products and inspiration. Boy stuff on the other hand… we are constantly keeping our eye out for something different and fun. Quiet Boy Studio is just that- different, fun and amazing artwork that can give your little boy’s walls character while taking him all the way up to big boy with style.
Please tell us a bit about your process… where do you draw your ideas and inspiration from?
I draw inspiration and ideas from everywhere. I know that sounds cliche but itʼs true. I typically enjoy creating the everyday moments rather then trying to make some big statement with my work. I want to create images that everyone can relate to and that the viewer can put themselves into pretty easily.
Has art always been a part of your life? Do you have a mentor or people that have helped you get to where you are?
Art has always been a part of my life. I canʼt remember a time when I didnʼt want to draw or paint something. My mom always tells the story that one day someone was telling me to make sure I colored within the lines and she came up to me and told me not to listen to that and I should color the way I want to. If that meant not within the lines then that was fine.
As far as mentors go I would have to say my art teachers from grade school to college that laid the ground work for the fundamentals of being an artist. I really think having that foundation has made a huge difference for me. My parents were always big supporters of my art and continue to be. Finally my wife has been a huge inspiration for me and someone who continues to push me into creating my ideas rather than just leaving them on the paper as sketches. Our family has a saying that we try to live “brave not safe” which pushes me everyday to continue to follow my dreams and not to give up. I couldnʼt look my two sons in the face and tell them to follow their dreams if daddy never did.
Outside of the pieces we see in your store… do you have other talents or passions that you can share with us?
Other than my artwork I also do freelance graphic design. I really enjoy logo work. But a true passion that I have is working with high school students. Currently I am working on a project that will bring my love of art and high school students together. My wife and I are working on creating a space that will allow high school students to come to after school and create artistically with no boundaries and learn from professional artists as well.
Thank you so much for being a part of Dreamer Journal! Your work was the perfect fit and we are so excited to share a bit more with our readers
