Coffee Break with Jessica Rousseau of Wall & Woven

I am personally a huge fan of woven textiles as wall art, so I am happy to have a coffee break with Jessica Rousseau of Wall & Woven. Jessica is a girl after my own heart, with her love of midcentury furnishings, textiles, and coffee :)

We are going to start today with this awesome DIY from Jessica… isn’t it the cutest??  Then scroll to the bottom for a little behind the scenes coffee break!

DIY…

What You Need:
Yarn
Stick / dowel
Cardboard Box
Scissors

Step One:
Cut slits About half of an inch apart across the top and bottom rim of the box.

Step Two:
Grab either a piece of yarn or string and loop it around each peg you created on the Box. Tying each end off with a loop as well. This creates what is called the Warp of the weaving.

Step Three:
Grab your strand of yarn and loop the yarn under and over the Warp. You can do this with as many colors of yarn you like. * Make sure you tuck the yarn tails to the back of the weaving.

Step Four:
When you have reached the end of your weaving carefully slide it off the box. While keeping the top and bottom Warp loops intact.

Step Five:
Slide the wooden stick or dowel through the top warp loops, and tie off all your loose yarn bits on the back of your weaving.

Step Six:
Tie some tassels to the bottom of each Warp loop.
Hang and enjoy!

My playlist: A pretty eclectic mix that changes quite often, some staples: Feist, Beck, Spoon, and a recent favorite.. James Blake.

I aspire to: be a good role model for my daughter Luella and to continue to make art.

Introvert or extrovert: Mostly Introverted

I am currently working on: New wall hangings. I don’t get much time during the day, so time is precious!
